

Joe Covelli, the owner of Covelli Law Offices, leads his experienced staff in areas such as real estate, personal injury, criminal cases, domestic affairs, and estate planning and probate. Over the past six years, Joe has been instrumental in developing a niche for the legal needs of credit unions throughout western Pennsylvania.
Joe’s academic career began at Thomas Jefferson High School and continued at the University of Pittsburgh where he obtained a B.A. in Political Science, with honors. He founded Covelli Law Offices in 1981, just one year after earning his J.D. from the Duquesne University School of Law.
Since 1988, after acquiring the firm’s first credit union client, Joe has played a major role in Pennsylvania’s credit union movement. Joe actively participates in the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association by conducting seminars regarding bankruptcy, collections, personnel issues, and more. Joe also attends the chapter meetings of various credit unions in order to fully understand their needs and legal concerns.
Joe’s enthusiasm to work with the youth of the South Hills area reflects his desire to ensure a bright future for our judicial system. For the past five years, Joe has been the legal consultant for the Thomas Jefferson High School Mock Trial competition team. Joe also participates in the Allegheny County Bar Association’s “Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales” program which enables area attorneys to educate elementary school students about the court system. Joe has also met with elementary school students to discuss the amount of cases crowding the judiciary and how the problem might be solved.
Joe is a life-long resident of the local Pittsburgh area, is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Allegheny County Bar Association. He acted as President of the Thomas Jefferson High School Alumni Association for three years. Joe also taught various Business Law Courses for five years while an Adjunct Professor at Pennsylvania State University. Joe also is President of the West Jefferson Hills Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rotary and was a Founding Board Member of the Historical Society.
